The Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism

Great news: the website for the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism is now up, with books and CDs devoted to Rama's teachings available! During his lifetime, our American Buddhist teacher Frederick Lenz (Rama) envisioned a Foundation which would be able to carry on his teachings after his death and help other, new, students connect with the Light. It is still fairly early in the Foundation's lifecycle (it is hoped that the Foundation will be as permanent as anything can be in a transient world), but over the last few years the Foundation has supported American Buddhism both by preserving Rama's teachings (his tapes, music, videos and books) and also by making grants to organizations committed to spreading the Dharma. It remains to be seen precisely how this will manifest in the long term, but it is very exciting to see the hard work of all involved now coming to fruition. Small disclaimer: there is no connection between the Rae Chorze-Fwaz Mystery School and the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism other than a mutual interest in the teachings of Rama/Dr. Frederick Lenz. However, that mutual interest definitely makes the Foundation's work of great importance to all in Rama's lineage.

Rama: An Enlightened Buddhist Master

This page is intended as a tribute to Rama/Dr. Frederick Lenz who is an enlightened Buddhist master. For 28 years, Rama provided impeccable and beautiful spiritual experiences to countless thousands of students who studied with him. Although Rama passed away approximately 10 years ago, and at the time of his death was no longer actively teaching or accepting new students, his teaching continues to benefit his former students. Fortunately he has left behind a permanent record of his teachings: people interested in Buddhism can still check out his best-selling novels Surfing the Himalayas and Snowboarding to Nirvana . Those who have interest in the spiritual path would be well advised to seek out a spiritual teacher of their own. There are many good teachers out there and it is much easier for a student to progress if they have a teacher. Studying with Rama has been the most exciting adventure of my life (skydiving has been pretty good too, though), and something I wouldn't have missed for the world. I'm hoping I'll be able to share a little of that excitement with you through this Web page.

About the Webmaster/Primary Meditation Teacher

I have studied with several Tantric Buddhist masters, including Rama/Dr. Frederick Lenz. In 1993, while a Ph.D. student in a technical field at Stanford University, I was formally initiated by Rama as a Tantric Buddhist. I received my Ph.D. from Stanford at the end of 1993. Between 1994 and 1998, I received several additional teaching and career empowerments from Rama and other Buddhist masters. Since then, I have worked as a computer consultant, project manager, and trader at a Wall Street firm, where I successfully managed an eight-figure portfolio. I have also authored a number of scholarly publications in science and mathematics, and co-authored a computer science textbook in 2000. Since 2006, I have served as CEO of my own software startup, designing real time data mining software to implement my research and the visions of my very talented business partners. I am also an experienced skydiver, having successfully made 87 jumps and completing the requirements for a skydiving A license.

THANKS TO RAMA (1950-98) -- FOR TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF IMPECCABLE TEACHING!

Rama is no longer with us in the physical. In the spring of 1998 he unexpectedly passed away. Although Rama had semi-retired from the active teaching of meditation (see below), he had been very enthusiastic and excited about the new projects he was involved with, ranging from new business and software projects to his interest in the sport of golf. So even though we always know everything in life is transient, it's just very sad that Rama won't be with us in the physical to share in these new challenges.

Readers interested in understanding the process by which an enlightened being dies might want to check out the following book: Graceful Exits: How Great Beings Die: Death Stories of Tibetan, Hindu and Zen Masters by Sushila Blackman. This book has been highly recommended by a number of Rama students as very beautiful, and I believe will help us to understand that the death of a great being is much more than just a physical death. Another source which may be of interest is the movie "The Last Temptation of Christ".
