The The Rae Chorze-Fwaz mystery school traces its roots back to the time of ancient Atlantis. Atlantis was a highly evolved civilization which flourished up until about ten thousand years ago. At the time, there were far fewer people on the planet, so it was much easier to meditate, and highly evolved techniques of meditation were developed by the Rae Chorze-Fwaz. The Atlantean age was a time not only of high spiritual evolution, but also of very sophisticated computer science and artificial intelligence technology. Indeed, it was probably a time in which advancement in technology matched skills in the occult arts much more closely than at any other time in human history. Today, we are rapidly approaching a level of technogical attainment comparable to Atlantis, but because it is so much harder to meditate, psychic ability has not kept pace.
At a certain point, it became apparent to the members of the Rae Chorze-Fwaz, the high priests and priestesses of Atlantis, that their continent was
doomed to sink beneath the waves forever. Just before it did, they set out on
boats from Atlantis to other power spots on earth such as
More details about the Rae Chorze-Fwaz and about Master Fwap may be found in Rama's book, Surfing the Himalayas . In the past, the Rae Chorze-Fwaz mystery school has offered teaching programs, and may do so again in the fairly near future. Watch this Web site for more details of this as it unfolds.
Incidentally, there was a number of years ago (Jan 2001) some discussion on RamaLila.com about the Rae Chorze-Fwaz name. Following is a copy of my response to that discussion:
Regarding the name, "Rae Chorze-Fwaz", certainly that name did not originate with me :). It is mentioned in Rama's books, Surfing and Snowboarding. As to what level of reality it has in the "real" world, the first thing to remember is that Rama's books are works of *fiction*, although based upon fact. I feel a strong connection or tie to Atlantis, and I feel that I studied with Rama in Atlantis, so I feel in some manner that "Rae Chorze-Fwaz" dates back to Atlantis. But in Surfing, Rama strongly hints that "Rae Chorze-Fwaz" may have been known by a different name back then. As to whether it has any connection with the group operating under a similar name mentioned in another message, I'm not sure. We will probably never know for sure. For that matter, Master Fwap may have been based on someone Rama knew early in this incarnation, he may be based on someone Rama knew in an earlier incarnation, or he may be amalgam of several teachers Rama had in different incarnations. Again, we probably aren't ever going to know for sure.
But, as other people have correctly said, what mattered with Rama was not his lineage, but how you felt in the room when you sat with him, and how you felt afterwards. There was total clarity when you sat with Rama, and more importantly, there was total clarity for days after you sat with him. Life, which is often so confusing, suddenly became very clear and simple. And we can still access that clarity now, although now we have to do some of the work ourselves (I think Rama is still helping us, of course--but there's more effort for us now, as there should be as we mature spiritually).
I'm thinking that Yogini's friend is probably someone who knows, on a scholarly level, a good deal more about Buddhism than I do. Scholarly learning can never replace the direct experience that we had with Rama, but I would welcome the opportunity to learn from Yogini's friend. He/she may contact me at dash@rae-chorze-fwaz.com if he/she wishes to pursue the conversation.
I'm not doing that much active teaching at the moment, although I may start
up again a little later this year. One question I often got when I was teaching
was about lineage: what is Rama's lineage? I never fully understood the
emphasis some seekers place on lineage. We're Buddhists. The Buddha himself
didn't have a lineage. The Buddha himself was about facing Eternity directly
without the crutch of a lineage. I think the Buddha would be surprised at the
emphasis on lineage which has developed in the various branches of Buddhism.
Ultimately you've got to have the courage to face Eternity directly without
reliance on a lineage, without reliance on the
At least that's my take on things.
